Use the invite button above, pick the Discord server you manage, and approve the requested permissions. Tripwire only works inside a server, not in DMs.
Required staff access
You need to own the server or have enough Discord permissions to install apps and manage moderation settings there.

Send Messages
Manage Messages if you want trigger messages deleted
Ban Members for ban mode
Timeout Members for timeout mode
Role order matters
Move the Tripwire bot role above the users or roles you expect it to punish. Discord will block bans and timeouts if the bot sits too low.
/tripwire add channel:#your-trap-channel
Pick a bait or no-post channel that normal members should never use. Tripwire ignores protected staff accounts, but regular members and raiders will trip it.
/tripwire punishment mode:ban
/tripwire duration hours:24
Ban mode schedules an automatic unban after the duration expires. Timeout mode uses Discord’s timeout system instead and caps at 28 days.
/tripwire log channel:#mod-log
/tripwire delete-trigger state:true
The log channel is optional, but you probably want it. Deleting the trigger message is also optional, and requires message-management permissions.
Watched channel shows up
Your trap channel should be listed so you know Tripwire is actually armed there.
Punishment mode matches plan
Make sure the status reflects ban or timeout mode and the duration you intended.
No permission warnings
Any missing ban, timeout, or message permissions mean the trap is not really ready yet.
Role hierarchy is clear
If the bot role is too low, Discord will still block punishments even when the rest looks right.
Check that the watched channel is listed, the punishment mode is right, and there are no readiness issues about missing permissions or role hierarchy.
Do not ignore warnings
If status mentions permissions, disabled enforcement, or role order, fix that first. “Mostly configured” is how traps fail in production.
